Worship Services:

Worship is held each Sunday at 10:30 a.m. (9:30 a.m. in the summer months) and is open to all. Worship services include prayer, scripture reading (we follow the Revised Common Lectionary), hymn singing, offering our gifts to God and a sermon each week.

The last Sunday of each month, Heritage offers Family Worship. During this service the children remain in worship with their families, learning about the worship service and offering their gifts to God. We believe strongly that children are important members of the church, and want to offer them the opportunity to participate in worship as often as possible. On Family Worship Sundays, children are offered instruments to play during congregational singing, allowing them to make a joyful noise to the Lord with both their instruments and their voices!

Sacraments:

In the Reformed tradition, Heritage Church celebrates two sacraments, Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe the sacraments were instituted by Christ and are a visible sign of God's invisible grace.

Baptism is open to all members, friends and relatives of Heritage Church and is offered during congregational worship. We believe that Baptism is the acknowledgment of God's work in a human life, bringing the Holy Spirit upon them. Baptism is open to believing adults and children, who are able to choose to follow Christ for themselves, as well as to infants brought for Baptism by their parents or guardians. In the Congregational Way the congregation participates in the Baptism by promising to uphold and encourage the one who is baptized. Dates for baptisms are scheduled between the family and the pastor, according the availability. We baptize at Heritage Church around the Baptismal Font by making the sign of the cross three times on the forehead with the baptismal water.

The Lord's Supper is celebrated the first Sunday of each month during Sunday morning worship, as well as during special Sundays and other special services such as Easter, Ash Wednesday and Maundy Thursday. The Lord's Supper is open to all who wish to meet Christ in the meal He has prepared. You need not be a Heritage member to participate. We serve communion at Heritage Church by both distribution (all being served and partaking of the bread and the cup in unison) and by intinction (the congregation coming forward, taking a piece of bread and then dipping it in the cup), depending on the needs of the individual worship service. Grape juice is used in our communion service.
