Music in worship is the servant of scripture. At Heritage, we intentionally plan music in worship to enhance both the spirit of scripture and the worship experience as a whole. We are truly blessed with an abundance of talented and dedicated musicians who offer their gifts freely to the worship of God.

Here are some of the ways we worship God with music at Heritage Church. You are invited to join us in making music to the Lord!

Choir:

The Chancel Choir rehearses weekly from late August through May each year. During this time, the choir offers a variety of musical styles in anthems for Sunday worship. They also offer music for special services such as Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

Heritage Harmony:

Heritage Harmony is a women's choir that offers music several times a year during worship. The group rehearses after worship as needed. Their specialty is gospel music.

Johannus Organ

The 3 manual and pedal digital organ at Heritage was made in the Netherlands by the Johannus Company. This instrument replicates a pipe organ of 63 ranks. Jeffrey Arnold dedicated this instrument on October 31, 1999 featuring works by Bach, Couperin and Vierne. The most important stop on any organ is the room. Heritage Church is blessed to have a sanctuary which has superb acoustics.

1869 Steinway Grand Piano

In the summer of 1999 Heritage Congregational Church received a 9 foot Steinway piano made around 1869. Thanks to Harriet Nelson the piano was discovered at a garage sale of all places! The instrument was later donated by the Shultheis family of Madison and completely restored by the Pickle Piano Co. in Bloomingdale, IL. The case is made of rosewood and features a beautifully carved music rack. The instrument was dedicated to the glory of God in a recital by David Whitehouse on November 16, 2003 featuring music by Bach, Beethoven, Debussy, Couperin and Rachmaninoff.
