The Missions of Heritage Congregational Church

Allied Partners of Madison

Allied Partners is a group of local churches in the Madison area who support the Allied Drive neighborhood by means of a Food Pantry, eviction prevention, and medical care. Donations for the Allied Drive Food Pantry are collected in worship the last Sunday of each month. Individuals from Heritage offer their time to work in the food pantry as well, and a member of Heritage sits on the Allied Partners Board.

Rev. Julio and Elba Santana of Bread of Life Christian Mission in Plant City, FloridaBread of Life Christian Mission, Plant City, Florida Bread of Life Christian Mission was founded in 1993 to respond to the needs of low-income families in the area. The majority of the families are migrant farm workers who do not benefit from opportunities in the community because of language barriers. The mission has served approximately 2000 families since they first opened their doors to the community. The focus of the mission is to win souls for Christ through the many social services they offer. Designed to serve the physical, material, and spiritual needs of individuals or families, the mission hands out Bibles, offers Sunday worship, and Bible School as well as food, clothing, and household items.

Building churches, offering assistance and education for all aspects of life and supporting children with education and medical care are just some of the ministries offered by Jardin America. Heritage supports two children annually from our Sunday School and loose change offerings each week.

Heritage also reaches out to the community by engaging in these special projects:

During Recycle the Warmth each January, members of Heritage collect new or gently used bedding items for this ministry of St. Vincent de Paul.

Members of Heritage have offered their time to Habitat for Humanity by working on houses with the Oregon, WI chapter of the organization.

Photo of Mitten Tree A Mitten Tree sits in the Heritage entry way during the month of December. Members bring in mittens, hats and scarves throughout the month, offering the gifts of warmth to local children, which are then delivered to the Salvation Army between Christmas and New Year's Day.

Visiting Missionaries Through the NACCC, Heritage has been privileged to host several national and international missionaries during worship in recent years. Representatives from Mission Mazahua, the Cameroon School of Hope, the South India Travencore Council, Jardin America and Bread of Life Christian Mission are those who have visited in recent years. For more information on the work of these missions, please visit the link to naccc.org either here or above and to your left.

Mission Trips In June of 2007

In June 2007, seven members of Heritage Congregational Church - four adults and three teenagers - traveled to the mountains of central Mexico for an intensive week of Christian service, discovery, and fellowship at Misión Mazahua.

At 9,000' elevation in one of the poorest areas of Mexico, the mission brings the gospel of Christ and provides many social, economic, and educational services to the local people, Mazahua Indians, under the banner of "wholistic transformation."

We were there to help run a camp for disabled children and adults, and so we did. But we also built a cistern to provide fresh water, brought shade and fruit trees to a local villagers, helped paint and restore a mission building for further use, fertilized a field of corn and beans, and helped in many other ways.

Interacting with the local people and learning lessons in Christian living from the full-time missionaries, Norberto and Lisa Cortes, gave us a trip we will always remember. Photo of helping hand
