Life long learning is essential to our faith journey. At Heritage Church, we believe in learning for all ages. Children are a vital and important part of our congregation, and we do all that we can to encourage their spiritual growth and participation in the community.

Sunday School: Karin teaching youth.

All children ages three through sixth grade are invited to join our Sunday School program, which meets following the Children's Sermon during our 10:30 a.m. worship hour. We use the Gospel Light curriculum, which is very inclusive and experiential.

Occasionally, the children offer their gift of music during the worship service, and each December our children and youth present a traditional Christmas pageant.

Our Coordinator of Children's Ministries, Karin Armbruster, brings the gifts of faith, love, creativity, enthusiasm and energy to all activities for Children, including worship.

Pilgrim Fellowship:

Pilgrim Fellowship, or PF, meets once or twice a month for social activities, service work and spiritual growth. Social activities include movie night, mini golfing, sledding and bowling. Service projects include work in the food pantry, lawn care for older members and shopping for the Mitten Tree. All youth in grades six through twelve are invited to participate.

Through the Wisconsin Congregational Association, PF participants are also invited to state rallies and camps. See the link to the WCA homepage for information on upcoming events.

Confirmation:

Every second or third year, Heritage offers Confirmation class for those who are in grades six through eight. Taught by Pastor Cindy, the one year curriculum meets weekly, offering classes on a variety of topics including Bible, Church History, Congregationalism, the Christian Life and Church Membership.

Each student is assigned a mentor from within the Heritage Congregation. Mentors and confirmands meet at least five times during the year, learning about each other, faith and spiritual growth.

Other aspects of the curriculum include outreach activities and social outings.

Confirmands become members of Heritage Church on Pentecost Sunday.

Nursery:

A nursery is offered during all worship services for children under three. The nursery is located in the infant and toddler room of Little Pilgrims' Christian Learning Center.

Adult Education:

A variety of classes are offered for adults at Heritage church. Past classes have included Bible studies, prayer, lessons on specific missions and book studies. Currently, we are exploring the discussion of current social issues.

The Place Where Ideas Meet covers topics pertinent to our world in this time. Participants are free to ask questions, share opinions and offer suggestions for moving forward as we seek to make the world a better place, in concert with God's will. Prayer is offered and members are encouraged to share openly what God has placed on their heart.

Vacation Bible School:

Vacation Bible School is offered one week each July during the morning hours. At Heritage we write our own curriculum for this fun-filled week, which helps build faith and friendship. Music, crafts, games, story-telling and hands on learning center around a specific topic each year, offering the children lessons that will stay with them throughout their lives. Church members of all ages participate in this annual event, which is open to children from three years through sixth grade.

Recent VBS Curriculums include:

  • Where's Paul?
  • Parable Pandemonium
  • Wow! This is Worship?
  • Bless the Beasts and the Children

These curriculums are available for purchase to interested churches from the Heritage Church office.
